CALVMX/ 100%/ Vintage Motocross Series Round 1: Lake Elsinore MX Park

The CALVMX outdid themselves, as they delivered a premium Vintage race to kick off the season! Honestly, it was more than just a race, as it became a virtual party atmosphere with the conclusion of the racing line-up.
A special chicken dinner awaited the participants, with gourmet salads and kegs of beer, courtesy of Iron Fist Brewery. For the 2014 season winners, plaques with the riders’ names emblazoned on them were awarded. The day’s winners received a medal, and more than 300 riders were competing for them!
Adding to the large showing of riders was the drawing for a 1972 Husqvarna WR250. The fortunate winner took home the bike after having purchased only one ticket, and that winner was Mickey Rogers. Congratulations, Mickey, from all of us!
Topping off the gathering and truly making this a party was the birthday celebration for Vintage champion Scott Burnworth.

He took first in the Modified Support Four-Stroke Expert class.Vince Laker (192) is one of those guys with three bikes and who races in several classes. The CALVMX now has a Dual-Sport class for you to try.Now it was time for the awards – and lots of fun. Brian Tracy came in from Washington to make this special event, and he was the recipient of the Eddie Pierre-Jerome Ironman Award. “Fast Eddie,” number 16 – we remember you always.
Perhaps you remember from last season another visiting rider, Dean Middleton, who had such a good time racing at Cahuilla. Right before this story was completed, Dean, the guy from Chicago with the fake-tie shirt, asked us to say “hello” to Frank Maney and all of you who raced with the CALVMX. We hope you visit us again someday soon, Dean.
