On Saturday, May 2, the Lodi Motorcycle Club held its first TT race of the 2015 season. The track was in great shape except for one small mud puddle. A new right-hand turn was created to bypass the puddle, and the track was ready to ride.
At the riders’ meeting, it was announced that there would be four-lap heat races and six-lap main events. For the Open A class, there would be six-lap heat races and an eight-lap main event.

After practice and the heat races, the finals began. The first final of the night was the Dash For Cash. Andrew Luker jumped out to an early lead, with Dominic Colindres in hot pursuit. Colindres got by Luker at the tree turn on the second lap. Moments later, going into the first right-hand turn, Luker tried to take the lead back, making contact with Colindres. Both riders went down, and the race had to be red-flagged so they could untangle their bikes and straighten out some hay bales. Luker and Colindres found themselves at the tail end of a staggered restart.

On the restart, Michael Inderbitzen was at the front, and he led the pack into the first turn. Colindres and Luker worked their way through the pack as quickly as possible but did not have enough time to get to the front. Inderbitzen was smooth and fast out front, making no mistakes, and he took the win – and the cash.
In the Open A Semi-Pro main event, James Monaco took an early lead, followed by Andrew Luker and Dominic Colindres. Behind Colindres were six riders closely bunched together, all looking for an opening.
On lap five, Colindres was able to get around both Luker and Monaco to take the lead, but his success was short-lived: Moments later, he slid out and fell coming out of the hairpin turn. He was down in the middle of the track and did not get up until the red flag came out, stopping the race.

The starter lined the riders up for a staggered restart. James Monaco was first in line, followed by Cole Crowley, Michael Inderbitzen, Andrew Luker and David Jorgensen. All the way back in the last starting position was Dominic Colindres, with only a few laps left in the race and a dozen riders between him and a first-place finish.
When the green flag dropped, it was once again James Monaco in charge, followed by Cole Crowley and Andrew Luker. Michael Inderbitzen stalled his engine at the start; he was able to restart his engine, and he chased down the pack of racers and passed four of them to eventually finish in ninth place.
One lap later, Cole Crowley, the second-place rider, fell going up the hill. With Crowley out of the way, Andrew Luker was now in the second-place spot, behind James Monaco, with Dominic Colindres close behind in third place.
On the last lap, it was still Monaco out front, followed by Luker and Colindres. Colindres tried to get inside of Luker in the second right-hand turn; the two came together and Luker ended up on ground. James Monaco crossed the finish line first, with Dominic Colindres close behind.
After the race, Dominic was disqualified, and the second-place finish was given to Andrew Luker.
In the Class Four VTX Pee Wee competition, Christian Knox was way out in front for the entire race, while Andrew Griswold and Jeffrey Wells battled over the second-place position.
In the combined 65cc A and C contest, Dominic Demario, the only A rider in the group, led from the beginning and established a comfortable lead over Chad Spurgeon in second place, Robert Stellfox in third place, and Dylan Powell. Stellfox shot by Spurgeon coming out of the left-hand sweeper and going up the front straightaway to move into second place. He then closed the gap on DeMario. Stellfox rode well but was unable to get by DeMario and had to settle for a second-place finish.
When the green flag flew for the Vintage A main event, Randy Martin got the jump, with Donnie Darrah close behind. However, the red flag came out, and the riders returned to the starting grid for a restart. Martin was sent to the third row for jumping the green light.
On the restart, it was Robert McDonnell in the lead, followed by Mike Fowler, Donnie Darrah, Gary Durbin, Randy Martin and Anthony Sigala.
On the second lap, Martin got by Durbin, and he was looking for a way around Darrah.
On the third lap, Martin powered past Darrah at the end of the straightaway and going up the hill.
On the fourth lap, Martin passed Fowler and was now in second place. Martin pushed McDonnell for the remainder of the race, but McDonnell did not give him an opening, so it was Robert McDonnell taking the checkered flag first, followed by Randy Martin, Mike Fowler, Donnie Darrah, Gary Durbin and Anthony Sigala.
The April 25 short track that was canceled due to rain has been rescheduled to run on May 23. The purse for the Open A main will be $1,500. Kids ride for free, and there will be overnight camping, so bring your barbecue and be prepared to have a great time. There will also be free open practice on Sunday, May 24, so it should be a great weekend!
